Why is it important to understand your emotions?

Emotions have much more influence than we think. Even our lack of emotion affects us in specific ways.

Failure to understand our emotions leads to a person not preventing their destructive effects in time, which has sad consequences.

We react to events, words, and circumstances through the prism of our emotions. If we understand them, current events will be preserved, leading us to understand the world and the people around us.

Let's cover a few examples:

  • You have been given a reprimand at work and started acting aggressively. Eventually, this will lead to neurosis, apathy and other depressive states.
  • You have argued with your spouse and started to feel resentment about your past due to specific trigger words. That can bring up past wounds and unresolved issues, which can cause hurt feelings. Which, in turn, can make it difficult to move past the argument and can create a cycle of negative emotions.
  • Your so-called close friend acts behind your back. There has been a clear "NO" because it clashes with your values. Yet, the person ignores that and continues to push through their agenda. That can lead to low self-esteem, resentment, disbelief and depression.
  • You work in a toxic environment led by an authoritarian boss. The list is rather extensive: Anxiety, Anger, Frustration, Low self-esteem, and stress.

These are just a few practical examples; real-life cases are more than stars in the universe.

With the help of identifying your emotions, you will be able to change your state, avoid external pressure, and be in harmony with yourself. Therefore, it is essential to understand yourself to help yourself in time and prevent internal and external conflicts.

Would you like to learn how to understand yourself, your emotions and your condition? Would you like to deal with your feelings correctly, avoiding impulses and actions that you regret later?

The point I am making is easy. If you can't understand or cope with emotions, do not stay silent; talk to a specialist.

  • A life coach can help you define a pathway from these emotional states.
  • Therapist - find causes and potentially a path from these emotional states.
  • Peers, Colleagues and Organisations Internal Help resources like HR can help you to deal with a specific individual.

Dalai Lama beautifully encourages us:

If there is a solution to a problem, there is no need to worry. And if there is no solution, there is no need to worry.

Don't hide, be silent, or keep that emotional stigma; let's talk.
